Amy Winehouse – The Voice of Vulnerability
Amy Winehouse was an award-winning jazz singer-songwriter blessed with a unique, powerful voice. She possessed a vocal range of three octaves and was naturally proficient in technique and individual phrasing. Winehouse became quickly distinctive, both in terms of her music and sensitive style and would later heavily influence the rise of other female artists.
Amy openly spoke about her battle with an eating disorder and manic depression. She also publicly acknowledged her drug and alcohol abuse. Amy believed it was a “musician thing” and why she wrote music. She enrolled in rehab several times but left early from each program. Many felt her environment may have fostered her drug dependency.
