Prince was one of the most expressive artists in American music history. He was a rare composer who could professionally execute every instrument required. Many of Prince’s recordings featured him in all the performing roles. His music often paralleled Madonna’s exploration of suggestive behaviors, and his lyrics challenged the limits of sexuality with inventive imagination.

Prince experienced seizures from epilepsy when he was young and suffered from severe hip pain from performing as an adult. As a result, Prince admitted he suffered from depression and often felt incredibly bored with his life. It’s believed by those closest to him that his mental illness played a vital part in his untimely death.
